Proxy Bidding for Live Shopify Auctions

You’ve picked up a piece with a story behind it. Someone asks about its condition, and you turn it toward the camera for a closer look. This is where live selling earns its audience.

Proxy bidding lets a shopper give you that attention with a bid already in place. They set a private maximum before the item opens. When competing bids arrive, the app responds within that limit.

Proxy bidding example: a $65 competing bid, a $5 increment, a $70 automatic bid, and a private $100 maximum.

A $100 limit needn’t mean a $100 price

Suppose a shopper saves a $100 maximum. Another buyer bids $65, and the auction uses $5 increments. The app responds at $70.

Their maximum stays private. Automatic bids continue only as competition requires and their limit allows. Another bidder can still win, but keeping up does not require a tap for every response.

The buyer can be ready before the item comes up

A shopper spots something in your upcoming lineup. They know what they’re willing to spend. Their interest can become a bidding commitment while you’re still showing an earlier piece.

They can save a maximum before the show, or during it while the item is still upcoming. When you open the auction, that instruction starts competing. It remains active even if they need to step away.

More time to watch you sell

With their maximum saved, a shopper has room to enjoy the conversation. They can hear your answer, watch another piece being shown, or discover something they hadn’t come looking for.

Shoppers can raise a maximum while the item is upcoming, but cannot lower or cancel it. Maximum entry closes when the item opens. Shipping and tax are additional, and winners complete Shopify checkout themselves. They are not charged automatically.
